Trajectory Estimation of a Flying Object Using High Speed Vision for Catching
This paper presents the current progress on a trajectory estimation of a flying object for a robotic catching system, using general purpose and readily available hardware. A recursive least squares (RLS) algorithm is used to extract and predict the position of a flying object in a 3D environment with the information gathered from only one camera. In this paper, a mechanism is designed for integration of inertial navigation system information (INS) and global positioning system information (GPS). In this type of system a series of mathematical and filtering algorithms with Tightly Coupled techniques with several objectives such as application of integrated navigation algorithms, precise calculation of flying object position, speed and at...
متن کاملBall Trajectory Estimation and Robot Control to Reach the Ball Using Single Camera
In robotics research, catching a projectile object with a robotic system is one of the challenging problems. The outcome of these researches can be used in a wide range of applications such as video surveillance systems, analysis of sports videos, monitoring programs for human activities, and human-machine interactions. In this paper, we propose a new vision-based algorithm to estimate the traj...
متن کاملEffects of camera calibration errors on RLS Trajectory Estimation of a Spinning Flying Object
Effects of camera calibration errors are investigated in static-eye configuration. The effect of the error in the extrinsic parameters of the camera to extract and predict the position of a flying object in a 3D environment using Recursive Least Squares (RLS) is analyzed. Simulations have been carried in order to minimize the error of the position predicted in the global reference frame modifyi...
متن کاملBatting an In-Flight Object to the Target
Striking a moving object such as a flying ball to a target location is a highly skillful maneuver that a human being has to learn through a great deal of practice. In robotic manipulation, precision batting remains one of the most challenging tasks in which computer vision, modeling, planning, control, and action must be tightly coordinated in a split second. This paper investigates the problem...
